Her riding foundation was built on the skills of Mary Gatti of Rainbow Canyon Ranch, Inge Tome-Stonequist, her German Dressage instructor & the late great Western trainers, Rocky Wright & Billy Harris. Susie worked diligently for a variety of local breed specific trainers while continuing her successful show campaign exhibiting in these categories; Western Pleasure & Equitation, Trail, Stockseat, English Equitation, Dressage (to 2nd level), and Breed associated circuits showing Quarter Horses & Arabians for over 40 years in the greater southwest region.
Susie met her husband Mike in 1987 while participating in Team Penning at Industry Hills Equestrian Center. They got married in 1992 & started their family in 1994 with the birth of their only child, Michaella. Instead of returning to the corporate world when Michaella was just a baby, Susie decided to start her business with the horses full time, something that felt like a second skin and fit like a glove.
Susie started her Mobile Training and horse related service business SUSIE Q's in 1995 to aid, assist & educate the first time and/or back yard horse owner. |
|
The business was founded on the need for quality, educated, vacation care and training services for the home horse owner. She is considered by many as someone who is knowledgeable, reliable, and capable of reading the danger signs and possible complications the horse owner can face on a daily or occasional basis. She’s stated many times that "anyone can throw food, but not everyone reads horses and horse manure like a book". Through her passion of bringing horses and their owners together, Susie uses horsemanship methods she has learned throughout her 40 plus years educating both children and adults using everyday life analogies and humor to explain her varied techniques in a way both horse and owner can understand and effectively apply themselves. Her lessons are always fun and informative. Her clients all agree that she loves what she is doing and the horses definitely appreciate her too.
